St Mary's C of E (Aided) Primary School, Pulborough

Egyptian Day

Published: 11 Feb '25

The school was full of Egyptian Pharaohs, gods, slaves and even a mummy today as Years 3 and 4 enjoyed Egyptian Day as part of their topic ‘Temples, Tombs and Treasures’. We were delighted to welcome Horsham Museum to St Mary’s with an amazing selection of Egyptian facts (and artefacts) to increase the children’s knowledge of this period in history. The children found the process of embalming fascinating, especially the methods of organ removal during the process…

They were also able to get up close and personal with Egyptian jewellery and personal items, such as make up jars and palettes, as well as making canopic jars, which were used for storing the preserved organs of the embalmed mummies. Thank you so much to Horsham Museum for their time and enthusiasm.
