Under Benedict's lLaw (Section 34 of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026) we are legally required to publish a dedicated Whole-School Allergy Safety Policy.

At St Mary's CofE (Aided) Primary School, Pulborough the safety, health and well-being of our pupils is our absolute priority. In line with the statutory requirements of Benedict's Law and the Department for Education Allergy Safety in schools guidance, we maintain a rigorous, proactive approach to allergy management, awareness, and emergency response.

We have several children in school with an extremely severe food allergies.

To safeguard the health and welfare of these pupils, please could we request that nuts of any kind are NOT brought into school by any of our other pupils.

This affects other products, such as hummus, pesto and Asian foods such as Thai, Indian and Chinese. Nuts are also found in pastries and other sweet items such as cake, ice cream and chocolates. If nuts are an ingredient in a foodstuff, they must be labelled in the ingredients list by law.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
