New Zealand and Ireland classes welcomed 'Hawking About' this morning to help us to enrich Y3's learning about 'Predators and Prey'. What a great experience to watch these birds fly, look at their prey and watch them feed. We flew a range of birds, including a barn owl, a tawny owl and a Harris hawk, and the children were able to handle them. To see a large hawk flying free around the school hall is an amazing experience. This visit enriched our language enormously and helped us to understand more about predators. The children were able to ask detailed questions about these beautiful animals. They got to see the birds feed and talk about the parts of their bodies and the adaptations that make them good predators.
