Trip to Sierra Leone

We were delighted that Mrs Heath and Miss Turner were able to give a presentation on their recent EWA trip to Sierra Leone to members of St Mary's Church congregation, ex-parents of the school and previous staff members. 150 people squeezed into the hall for this eye-opening event - the slides really brought home the deprivation in Sierra Leone with crumbling school buildings and minimal resources, but the pupils are unfailingly happy and smiling. It really brings home how lucky we are with the resources we have in this country.

We are are one of very few church schools in the diocese who have maintained their links with schools in Sierra Leone over the years and with the donations and takings from the sale of craft items, the evening raised over £600 for Education West Africa.  Thank you to all those who supported this event.
