World Book Day

World Book Day started off with an inspirational assembly about the value of books. The children looked amazing as they filed into assembly dressed as a whole host of book characters. Mr Partis, dressed as an explorer from the South Africa's termly textLand of Neverbelieve, led the assembly. A quiz on autobiography titles led to some hilarity as the children guessed which staff members had written which autobiographies. They included

Mr Coomber – I Should’ve Taken Up Basketball

Mrs Brown – All the Best Things Come in Pairs

Mr Rogers – The Adventures of Captain Red Beard

Mrs Robinson – How I Became a Crayon

Mr Partis – My Love Of The Colon: The (Accurately Punctuated) Story Of My Life

The children then chose to go and listen to other books chosen by staff with a variety of different children. As the day went on the children had a competition to enter hosted by Henry Adams that involved Early Years and Key Stage One drawing their favourite book character and the rest of the school designing book marks. This will be judged next week.

The children also buddied up with children from another class to share their favourite books. At the end of the day the children went home with their voucher.  This can be spent next week at the Steyning Book Fayre or at other retailers.
