Football vs. Billingshurst

1st October 2015

On Thursday 1st October, St Mary's played their first football match of the season, away to Billingshurst. On a beautiful sunny day, watched by parents and fellow students, the 8 boys and 1 girl of St Mary's performed admirably against a very strong Billingshurst side. After the first half of 20 minutes, the score was 1-0 to Billingshurst and the children were ready for a halftime snack, having spent much of the half on equal terms only to concede a late goal.

A tactical change was made at half time in an attempt to relieve some of the pressure on the defence and St Mary's created more chances but left gaps at the back as well. The team came close to scoring on several occasions but tired as the game went on, conceding three more goals to give a final score of 4-0. Although they started the season with a defeat, the children should be very proud of themselves for the amount of effort they put in and the excellent spirit in which they played the game.

Well done to all of those who were involved!
