Yr 6 - Making blood!

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system in Science this term. This week, we have been exploring the components of blood in a messy but memorable practical activity! We used water and yellow food colouring to represent plasma, pom-poms to represent the platelets, marshmallows to represent white blood cells and Cheerios coated in red food colouring to represent red blood cells. We also learnt about the functions of the different components of blood and the ratios in which they are present in the human body.
