Mission statement:  ‘A Christ centred school with a child centred curriculum’

An exciting opportunity has arisen to succeed our current head teacher; the governors will be seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced teacher to continue the ongoing process of improving standards of what is already a good school, for either April 2019 or September 2019.

The role would suit an experienced head teacher or a deputy looking for their first headship.

There is capacity in the school for growth and the governors will be prepared to exercise their discretion towards a candidate with a proven track record in school improvement.

We have just opened a re-furbished Early Years suite which has been designed with a focus on providing state of the art learning facilities. Recent years have seen the completion of a major building programme (which included the provision of extra classrooms, a new staff room, a new special needs base and many other internal improvements). St Mary’s has also benefited from an  Early Years Garden which has proved to be a great asset to our already extensive grounds. Our swimming pool has recently been upgraded with further improvements planned. ‘Forest Schools’ is an important part of our curriculum exploiting the many advantages which are presented by our grounds.

The successful applicant will join a school with exceptional facilities, children who are keen to learn, a pro-active forward thinking staff and a well managed budget. The school enjoys unparalleled support from the village and wider community.  The Church of St Mary, the Rector and the Parochial Church Council are actively involved in school life. The PTA is both dynamic and vibrant.

The post will be advertised early in the New Year and interviews are scheduled for 27th and 28th February 2019.

St Mary’s C of E (Aided ) Primary School is an equal opportunities employer and all posts are subject to enhanced DBS clearance. We expect all candidates to share a commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

Potential applicants are encouraged to visit the school at any time throughout November, December and January, up to the closing date of Monday 4th February 2019, by contacting our School Business Manager, Mrs Sue Mitchell.
