Sporting Successes

29th January 2020
On Wednesday, St Mary's made their debut in the Horsham District Badminton competition in Broadbridge Heath. Despite some tough matches against strong opponents, the five boys representing St Mary's (Wills E, James L, William O, Reuben and Robbie N-J)  did very well, progressing through to the Pool C final. All of the children enjoyed the experience of playing competitive singles games as well as having the opportunity to umpire and score other games too. We will definitely be back again next year. A special thank you to Mrs Treadwell for leading the event.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, St Mary's Year 5 football team travelled to Wisborough Green Primary School for a friendly match played in very muddy conditions. Despite the challenging terrain, St Mary's put in a performance of which Jurgen Klopp would have been proud, eventually winning the game 8-0 with goals from Daniel H, James H and Alex V. There were debuts too for Evie S and Mylah R, who both played really well. The player of the match was Adam B, who worked so hard to keep the Wisborough Green attack at bay and made the crucial tackles when needed. A big thank you to Wisborough Green for hosting the game and we hope to welcome them to St Mary's later in the year.
