Ireland Class (Year 3)
As part of our Maths curriculum, Ireland class spent some time creating 3-dimensional shapes from straws and blu-tac. This type of work really helps to embed the learning for the children.
Today Ireland class was lucky enough to have a visit from Hawking About! Kevin brought 5 birds for us to see and we were able to hold some of them. We met Fern, the barn owl, Buzbee, the tawny owl, Mo, the kestrel and also saw Mika, a gyr/saker falcon, one of the fastest birds on the planet, and Polly, a 23-yr old buzzard. These last two are fairly new additions to Kevin's 'mews', so are not being flown yet.
Ireland class made a good start to their topic of the Stone Age... a creative time was had by all, making clay pots, hessian pouches, wooden disks and creating cave paintings using chalk and charcoal.
Today Ireland class made sedimentary and igneous rocks using chocolate!

Ireland class very much enjoyed their opportunity to take part in the 'Virtual Games' organised by Horsham District Council this week...
Ireland class were very lucky to have some real Roman coins brought in for them to look at, as part of their topic on 'Ancient Rome'. Thank you to Skye's grandmother for this fantastic opportunity.
