Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler visited us today. They have been writers for television shows such as Octonauts, Shaun the sheep, Dangermouse and Thunderbirds are go ... to name a few and this is the first idea that they have had for a book. The 'Defenders of the Realm' series includes two books and Mark and Nick are in the process of writing the third book in the series. They spoke to the children about what it is like to be a writer and showed them photos of the writing room at the BBC and their writing offices at home.
The children listened intently for an hour. They talked about the research they did and showed us a video from the guard at the Tower of London, before asking questions about how they met, what it is like to co-write and whether they would write a sequel to any other film.
Afterwards, Nick and Mark stayed to sign books and to talk to the children.
