Congratulations to the Year 6 children who have taken part in the Weald Book Award this year. This is a project for able readers involving other primary schools in the locality. The group involved have read six challenging books by new authors and participated in competitions where they have submitted work based on these titles. After reading all six books, the children were asked to vote for their favourite; our votes were then combined with those from other participating schools to determine the overall winner.
Well done to Abi, Charlie, Amelie, Luke, William G and Caleb (South Africa) and Isla, William C, Robin, Molly, Keely and Noah (Japan) for their hard work and commitment to the project throughout the year.
This week, we learnt that ‘The Last Bear’ by Hannah Gold was voted the winner of the Weald Book Award 2022. ‘Darwin’s Dragons’ by Lindsay Galvin and ‘The Ship of Shadows’ by Maria Kuznar were voted joint second place.
