Science Week - Battle of the Beaks

Science Week continued... As part of their studies on Adaptation, Yr 6 have been harnessing their inner Charles Darwin and have looking at the way that birds have different beaks, depending on what they eat. The children used tweezers, spoons and laundry pegs to represent the beaks and then experimented with different-sized items to represent the birds' foodstuffs, cocktail sticks, pompoms, macaroni, rubber bands and marshmallows, to find out which utensil was best at picking up which 'foodstuff'.
