Hawking About!

The children in New Zealand and Ireland classes spent a fascinating morning learning about birds of prey today as part of the annual visit to the school by Hawking About! Today they were entertained by and learnt about Fern, a tawny owl, Buzbee, a barn owl and Mo, a kestrel. Some of the children were able to don the thick leather gauntlet and hold the birds, which was a real thrill. Kevin also bought two recent additions to his 'mews': Polly, a 23-yr old buzzard and Mika, a gyr/saker falcon, which were not flown today. The children were interested and horrified to learn of the diet for these birds of prey. Thank you very much to Kevin and Hawking About! for coming to instruct us in these amazing birds.
