Yr 3 were delighted to be able to welcome the award-winning artist Dominique Salm into school today for an art workshop on drawing wildlife. She is an internationally acclaimed artist who has exhibited her work in London, New York, California, Texas, Paris and Scotland, prompting her paintings to now be sought after by private collectors and art dealers worldwide.
Her remarkably naturalistic portraits have an almost snap-shot quality, showing her unique ability to capture the personality, charm and grace of each animal whilst imparting humour and character to many of her pieces. Dominique held the children enthralled as she discussed how she begins to work by sketching and then fleshing in the details of each portrait, she then gave a demonstration to each class. They then took her inspiration and sketched and coloured from photographs of animal eyes, with amazing results. We are so lucky to be able to host events like this to enthuse the children in different areas of their learning. Thank you to Dominique for giving up her time today.
