Fairtrade Fortnight
This week the children have been learning about Fairtrade food and products. Ladies from our local Fairtrade group talked to all of the classes and Mrs Heath held a special assembly.
Fairtrade Tea Party
On Thursday the children invited their parents to a Fairtrade tea party. The older children helped to serve refreshments. All of the biscuits and cakes had been made by our key stage one children using Fairtrade ingredients.
Ash Wednesday Eucharist
Father Paul led an Ash Wednesday Eucharist. This had been delayed from the previous week which was half term.
Year Six Business Enterprise Project
Our Year Six pupils are currently involved in an exciting project running their own business. They are growing fruit, vegetables and plants which they will be selling in school and around the village.
To help with their financial management we welcomed Glenn Souter from HSBC this week who showed the children which financial information they will need to keep a track of. He also showed them how to set up spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
The children in our purchasing team visited a local nursery and negotiated a good deal on compost and containers. The production team worked hard in the school grounds potting up strawberry plants and pansies.
