Admissions
Parents seeking admission for a child to the
school at ages between five and eleven years should apply to the Head Teacher.
We do encourage parents and prospective pupils to visit St Mary's prior to
attending. Please telephone the school office to make an appointment.
Admissions to the school are made by the Governors in accordance with
arrangements agreed with the County Council. Should the school be
oversubscribed, then the Governors' Admission Policy will take effect.
The school aims to provide a Christian education for children from the
Pulborough area, subject to availability of space. The Governors will give
careful consideration to applications for admissions, using the criteria listed
in the Admission documents below.

Preliminary Visits for Reception Pupils
We have introduced an induction programme for new reception pupils and their
parents to help aid the transfer from home and playgroup/nursery into school. An
initial evening meeting is held for parents during which we discuss a wide range
of curriculum activities and practical issues as well as a question time. Pupils
and parents are then encouraged to join in several school sessions by mutual
arrangement.
All pupils have the opportunity to start school in the September following their
4th birthday. Pupils who will be 5 in the Autumn term start full time, and the
remainder part time (mornings). Pupils who are 5 between 1st January and 30th
April start full time after Christmas. Parents of children who are 5 between 1st
May and 31st August may choose to start their children full time from January.
Parents may choose to defer their child’s start of school and are welcome to
discuss their options with the Headteacher.
