The School’s Aims

A Christ centred school with a child centred curriculum

Mission Statement

At St Mary's, in partnership with parents, children are provided with an education striving for excellence in a Christian environment. This enables them to become independent learners capable of making choices, being self disciplined and forming positive relationships. Through a varied and flexible approach, education will be appropriate to the child's ability, needs & talents.

All those involved in the school share in our desire for children to grow and develop within a secure and caring environment, and in partnership with parents and governors we aim:

  1. for excellence, and are committed to seeking to raise pupils’ achievement;

  2. to provide a happy and stimulating framework, recognising that children come with differing abilities, strengths and development needs;

  3. to provide learning opportunities which develop lively enquiring minds, encouraging pupils to question and discuss rationally and apply themselves independently;

  4. to develop moral and spiritual awareness including a respect for others, to teach children about the life and works of Christ and his followers;

  5. to encourage pupils to care for and cherish their surroundings, fostering a sense of wonder in the world around them, and helping them to understand the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations;

  6. to help pupils acquire knowledge, skills and personal qualities appropriate to adult life;

  7. to provide a broad, balanced and rich curriculum, enabling pupils to access the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 & 2.

We believe:
